English abstract:
Numerous unloaded Q-factor measurement
methods exist, typically limited to a narrow band aroundthe resonance frequency. These methods also suffer from asubstantial variation between measurements with differentcoupling coefficients A new VNA-based method is implemented, which considers the parasitic effects of the coupling mechanismin order to allow for measurements in a broader frequencyband and reduce the aforementioned variation. To validate theproposed method, aluminum alloy based waveguide cavities werebuilt and measured. Compared to existing methods, the proposed method shows a reduction of coupling coefficien induced Q0variation. Two common unloaded Q-factor improvementtechniques for waveguide cavity resonators are investigatedduring the validation process.
