"60 GHz Front End Design for a Rotary Unit";
Talk: 4th Workshop of the Radio Frequency Engineering Working Group of the Austrian Research Association, Villach; 10-17-2016 - 10-18-2016.

English abstract:
Previous channel measurement campaigns in millimetre wave bands were mostly focussing on time invariant channels. A methodology for repeatable estimation of the delay-Doppler measurements of static environments has been proposed. This methodology uses a rotating arm for moving the receive antenna around a central pivot. The constraints on the rotary joints and suitable cables results in a need for down conversion straight after the antenna, so that just baseband signals are transferred on cables and joints. In this talk a RF front end design is proposed which is restricted to two cable-joint connections still being able to transmit DC power, the in-phase and quadrature-phase baseband signals, the LO reference signal and control signals from and to the end of the rotating arm.
