This paper reports on aspects of the TARGET Linearisation Evaluation Map, a report of some nine hundred pages of a study carried out by the TARGET Partners in Workpackage 2.2.E.1. The study was executed by a review of RF transmitter power amplifier linearisation techniques from existing literature and from the research experience and activity of TARGET partners themselves. The presentation accompanying this overview paper will focus mainly on a few new approaches to circuit and system predistortion and feedback Linearisation concepts and techniques. Contextual issues such as adaptivity, robustness and stability will be considered. Useful insights on upper bounds to lineariser benefits will be presented.
