Kurzfassung englisch:
This paper presents some new work concentrated on methods and strategies to gain basic features for scene analysis, based on distance measurements with ultrasonic sensors. While in former works object classification is sometimes carried out with special sensor arrangements, our methods are based in principle on continuous movements of single sensors. Sequences of measurement values are analyzed whether they can be explained to originate from objects of elementary shape. Different object hypotheses are compared to this end. As an essential improve of applicability and quality of this analysis, the angles of reflected ultrasound signals with respect to the sensor´s axis are included in calculation. Two methods are shortly presented to achieve the angle information within the sensors response pattern.
