Kurzfassung englisch:
The present study concerned the applicability of an optical tissue absorption sensor which, if applied at the chest as a novel region, offers a non-disturbing multiparametric monitoring of all three: cardiac activity, respiratory activity and changes of the arterial blood oxyheamoglobin saturation. As a background for investigations, the study addresses relevant physical and physiological aspects of the sensor application on the non-distal region within the scope of multiparametric monitoring. Contrary to the standard distal application of the sensors, the chest region yields fast assessment of both the oxyhemoglobin saturation (though restricted to relative changes) and the respiration activity even for obese patients.
