English abstract:
Amplifiers with high bandwidth and high sensitivities are required for digital versatile disk (DVD) applications. The presented single-stage transimpedance amplifier (TIA) is integrated together with a pin photodiode in a 0.6μm BiCMOS process. The TIA achieves a transimpedance of 183.5kΩ and a bandwidth of 267MHz with a simple compensated feedback network. Compared to the same TIA with an ordinary polysilicon feedback resistor an improvement by a factor of 4 is observed for the bandwidth.
